Thank you for taking time to pray during  the Walk to Emmaus! Your prayers mean so much and help open hearts to God’s love and grace.

This guide is here to give you some ideas, but let the Holy Spirit lead you. We’re so grateful you’re part of this journey!

Prayer Prompts

General Prayers

  • Safe travels, good health, and open hearts and minds for everyone involved.
  • That there will be no problems compromising safety or comfort for Pilgrims and team members.
  • For God’s presence to fill the building, the grounds, and every element used to bring participants closer to Him.
  • That God’s grace will overcome all obstacles and meet every need.
  • Protection from distractions or challenges that may compromise the experience.
  • Patience, trust, joy, and a deep sense of God’s love throughout the weekend.
  • For the fun and fellowship that reflect God’s love and keep the focus on Him.
  • That all activities will be done in Jesus’ name and for His glory, leading to transformed lives for His Kingdom.
  • Our Lord Jesus will reap a harvest of souls through the efforts of the Pilgrims as they return to their lives and communities.

For the Pilgrims

  • That the Holy Spirit will meet each Pilgrim’s unique needs and open their hearts to His presence.
  • For Pilgrims to:
    • Feel God’s love deeply and personally.
    • Be fully present, engaged in table discussions, and open in their responses.
    • Experience peace of mind to hear and absorb the messages shared.
    • Take the love of Christ back into their daily lives and communities.
  • For Pilgrims struggling with:
    • Distractions or burdens they cannot leave behind.
    • Being forced to come.
    • Looking for magic, not miracles.
    • Being open and receiving.
    • Discomfort in the setting or unease.
    • Sleeplessness, skepticism, or searching for quick fixes instead of God’s transformative miracles.

For the Team

  • Wisdom and Christlike love as they serve as God’s instruments.
  • Renewal of strength and focus as they dedicate their efforts to the Lord.
  • For specific roles:
    • Spiritual Directors: To be attuned to the Holy Spirit.
    • Board Representative: To have the courage to uphold the purity of the event and avoid letting personalities influence their decisions.
    • Team Assistants: That they do not tire and for their renewed strength.
    • Lay Directors & Assistant Lay Directors: To walk in faith and respond to challenges with grace.
    • Musicians: To bring peace and joy through music that glorifies God.
    • Table Leaders: For discernment and leadership that reflect God’s love.
    • Sponsors: To faithfully support Pilgrims during and after the Walk.
  • For each talk: Priority, Growth through Study, Changing our World, Prevenient Grace, Means of Grace, Sanctifying Grace, Priesthood of all Believers, Christian Action, Body of Christ, Justifying Grace, Obstacles of Grace, Perseverance, Life in Piety, Discipleship, Fourth Day.

Closing

Take a moment to ask God to bless the next person on the Prayer Vigil. May He inspire and guide them as they continue to uphold this Walk in prayer.

Reflect on the time you've spent lifting up these needs to God and consider how He is already at work in the lives of the Pilgrims, the team, and everyone connected to the Walk to Emmaus. Give it all to our Lord and Friend, who sees and knows all.

Ask for His blessing and presence with everyone connected—not only those mentioned in your prayers but also their families, the church, and the community. Praise and thank God for the opportunity to speak with Him on behalf of His children. Trust in His perfect will as you bring your prayer to a close.
